We are a partner with the NYC Department of Corrections in its Specialized Model for Adult Reentry and Training (SMART) initiative. We serve up to 900 incarcerated men age 22 and older whose reentry needs include employment and transitional or permanent housing.
SMART participants receive comprehensive reentry services including job readiness and skills training for in-demand, background friendly jobs with a goal of securing permanent, sustainable employment. Working with community partners, we help individuals access public benefits and critical mental health and substance misuse services, and offer integrated, evidence-based pre-and post-release programming in:
- Work readiness
- Behavioral interventions
- Job placement
Individuals in custody attend two daily 2.5-hour workshops and are offered weekend programing that includes arts and crafts, physical training, health and wellness activities, book clubs, interactive journaling, and additional hard skills workshops.
